Casperme Old Age Wellness Program
India, known for its diverse culture and heritage, is also home to a rapidly growing aging population. The condition of elderly people in India is a complex and evolving issue. While traditional values have often emphasized respect for elders, the country faces significant challenges in providing adequate care, support, and quality of life for its elderly citizens.
Challenges Faced by Elderly People in India
- Financial Insecurity:
A significant portion of India's elderly population lacks financial security. Many elders have limited or no access to pensions or social security, leaving them financially vulnerable. This often results in dependence on their families for support, which can be challenging, particularly when the younger generation is also struggling financially. - Healthcare:
Access to quality healthcare remains a concern for elderly people in India. Age-related health issues, chronic diseases, and limited access to healthcare facilities in rural areas make it difficult for seniors to receive timely and appropriate medical care. Additionally, the cost of healthcare can be burdensome for many elderly individuals and their families. - Social Isolation:
Social isolation is a pervasive issue among the elderly in India, especially in urban areas where family structures are changing. Loneliness and isolation can lead to depression and other mental health problems, affecting the overall well-being of seniors. - Elder Abuse:
Elder abuse, including physical, emotional, and financial abuse, is a disturbing reality in India. Many elderly individuals face mistreatment or neglect, often within their own families. A lack of awareness and legal protection compounds this issue. - Limited Access to Education and Employment:
Some elderly individuals who did not have access to education or who retired without adequate savings find themselves unable to participate in meaningful activities or secure employment opportunities. This can lead to a sense of purposelessness and economic dependency.

Social Abuse
In India, a distressing trend is emerging, where a significant number of elderly parents find themselves in heartbreaking situations. They are often left to face their twilight years in solitude, either abandoned to fend for themselves or consigned to the confines of old age homes. In even more tragic circumstances, they endure social abuse and are callously discarded onto the streets by their own children, as though they were nothing more than a burdensome inconvenience.
According to some studies, the prevalence of elder abuse in India ranges between 9.6 to 61.7% across different states, although the actual figures may be much higher than reported
What we do?
At the Casperme Old Age Foundation, our mission revolves around addressing the pressing needs of elderly individuals who find themselves abandoned and destitute on the streets. Through our dedicated initiative, known as "Casperme Old Age Wellness," we have undertaken a profound commitment to enhancing the quality of life for these vulnerable senior citizens.
Here are some key aspects of what we do at the Casperme Old Age Foundation:
- Shelter: We work tirelessly to provide safe and secure shelter to elderly individuals who have no place to call home. Our shelters are designed to offer comfort, protection from the elements, and a sense of belonging.
- Nutrition: Proper nutrition is essential for the well-being of seniors. We ensure that those under our care receive regular, nutritious meals tailored to their dietary needs.
- Healthcare: Many elderly individuals suffer from health issues that require attention. We provide access to healthcare services, including regular check-ups, medication management, and necessary medical interventions.
By dedicating ourselves to these initiatives, we hope to bring about positive change in the lives of elderly individuals who have been abandoned and left to fend for themselves on the streets. Our ultimate goal is to restore their dignity, provide them with hope, and enable them to age with grace and comfort.
